No School May 8, 2019

Due to a very high percentage (90%) of our teachers voting to take part in the Day of Action on May 8, 2019, the Sheridan School District will not have school on May 8, 2019. Student safety and learning are our highest priorities. We will be adding an additional day to the calendar, June 13, 2019 will be the last day of school. The teachers, classified staff and the district are working together to provide breakfast and lunch on that day for our k-12 students. Breakfast will be from 8 to 9 AM and lunch will be from 11:30 to 12:30 PM. All meals will be served at Faulconer-Chapman School.

Other dates impacted by this decision include kindergarten graduation will take place on Wednesday June 12th, and summer school will begin on Tuesday June 18th. Eighth grade promotion and trip will take place as planned, and June 12th will be the last day of school for eighth grade and kindergarten students.

The Day of Action is intended to encourage the Oregon Legislature to increase funding for Oregon Schools. Like all districts in Oregon, Sheridan School District understands the need for more funding for education. More funds will allow the district to continue to pursue our priorities for our students. The district believes we can best serve our students by having them in school receiving instruction.

Sincerely,

Steven Sugg, D.Ed.
