The Sheridan School Board announced at the end of its Tuesday night meeting that it has hired a new superintendent, Steve Sugg. He will replace A.J. Grauer, who is retiring June 30, 2013.

The Oregon Dept. of Education has set a new requirement for Seniors starting this year: The students are required to pass the Reading and Writing portions of the OAKS Tests in order to graduate. The passing scores are 40 for Writing and 236 for Reading. Please check to see if your student is on course for graduation.
What can you do? Encourage your student to read. Take a few minutes to read and summarize a paragraph. Check with your student in their effort in Writing Class. You can work with your student on writing skills at home. Please do not hesitate to call the school with any questions at 503-843-2162.
· Parents of Seniors are encouraged to get involved with the Sr. Grad Nite committee. Check the reader board for upcoming meeting dates. So far, a bottle drive, Ham Bingo and more events are being planned.
